In response to the World Environment Day (June 5), the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) in Tien Giang province in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s executive board in the province and the Cho Gao district’s authority organized on June 4 a program to plant 2,000 trees in Cho Gao district.
Attending the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial VFF Huỳnh Văn Hải, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cho Gao district Nguyễn Hồng Hữu, Venerable Chief of the provincial VBS’s Office Thích Huệ Phát, Venerable Head of the VBS’s executive board in Cho Gao district Thích Thiện Nguyện, representatives from local authorities and local residents.
During the event, the Buddhist charity association of Thien Ton Phat Quang pagoda in Ba Ria Vung Tau province donated 2,000 Giang Huong trees (Pterocarpus Macrocarpus Kurs), worth 50 million VND.
Right after the program, the organization board launched tree planting in Oc Eo Go Thanh relic site and roads in Tan Thuan Binh commune of Cho Gao district.
