Thanh Hoa authorities honor outstanding Catholics for social contributions in 2020-2022 period

The Party Commission for Mass Mobilization in Thanh Hoa province in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in the province held on October 31 a conference to honor outstanding Catholics in patriotic movements during the 2020-2022 period.

The event saw the presence of Secretary of the Party Committee in the province Đỗ Trọng Hưng; Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Part-time Vice President of the VFF Central Committee, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics cum Chairman of the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics; representatives from local authorities, Thanh Hoa diocese and the Congregation of Lovely Holy Cross, and about 100 outstanding Catholic followers from 79 Catholic parishes in the province.
As reported at the event, since 2017, local Catholics have contributed 20 billion VND and voluntarily donated 90 ha of land, over 67,000 working days for building cultural centers and over 700 km of rural roads, installing light system, etc.
With the spirit of “loving and serving”, local Catholics have proactively responded the “Whole country joins hands for the poor – leaving no one behind” movement. For the past two years, Catholics in the province have built and repaired 4,392 charity houses.

During the event, the provincial People’s Committee and the provincial VFF presented certificates of commendation to 100 Catholic individuals for their outstanding contributions to patriotic movements during 2020-2022 period.
