A delegation of Tay Ninh provincial government paid on April 7 a visit to elite people of Khmer ethnic community in the province’s Tan Bien district on occasion of the Khmer Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
During the visit, the delegation led by Vice Chairman ofthe provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyễn Văn Trung met with Senior Venerable Nguyễn Văn Chay, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in Chung Rut pagoda and six prestigious individuals in communes of Hoa Hiep, Tan Phong, Tan Lap bordering Laos in Tan Bien district.
During the visiting receptions, while extending best wishes to Khmer dignitaries and people, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Thành Trung expressed hope that Khmer prestigious people would promote social unity and join hands with local authorities and people for making practical contributions for socio-economic development inthe province, as well as raise the awareness of local people on preventive measures against the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
In the context of the complicated pandemic, the traditional New Year Chol Chnam Thmay of Khmer people in the province will be celebrated at their homewithout large gatherings of people.
Earlier, on April 6, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Hồ Đức Hải extended visits toChristian places in the province on occasion of Easter festival.
The official congratulated local Christians on the important celebration while visiting Trang Bang evangelical church (in Gia Binh commune, Trang Bang town), the provincial Catholic solidarity committee (based in Tay Ninh church), Vinh Son parish and its nursing house (in Chau Thanh district), Phuoc Dien parish and its nursing house (in Thanh Dien commune, Chau Thanh district).
