Tam Buu pagoda locating in Tri Ton district’s Ba Chuc town of An Giang province was kicked off June 26, 1882 by Founding Master of the Tu An Hieu Nghia Buddhist Association Ngô Lợi.

Tam Buu pagoda is the headquarter of Tu An Hieu Nghia Buddhist Association

The pagoda placed over 30 worship altars from the main hall to the outer and the Long Dinh Altar - an ancient relic dated over 115 years which was designed by Buddhist Master Ngô Lợi, as well as exhibited several relics from the 19th century.

The pagoda was recognized as the national historical relic in July 10, 1980, and has been a part of national historical relic complex of Tam Buu pagoda, Phi Lai pagoda and Ba Chuc catacomb.

Annually, the pagoda is the venue to celebrate major events of Tu An Hieu Nghia Buddhist Association, including the three-sacred events of the Founder Ngô Lợi’s Birthday, the founder’s enlightenment day, and the founding day of Tu An Hieu Nghia Buddhism. Especially, on 26th day of the third lunar month every year, the pagoda and Ba Chuc catacomb held the death anniversary of victims died during the Pon Pot massacre in 1978.

The restoration of the pagoda was started in 2016 with nine construction items of an office, a main hall, a sanctum, a guest house, a flag pole, a library, and a pagoda’s gate, and was inaugurated on June 2, 2022.
