During a working visit to Tra Vinh province, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc paid a visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in the province on January 14, ahead of the traditional New Year (Tet) 2020.
Joining the visit included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng.
Most Venerable Thạch Sok Xane, Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee welcomed the visiting delegation at the office of the provincial VBS VBS’s Executive Committee based in Luong Xuyen pagoda.
During the visiting reception, while extending new year of peace and success to local monks, nuns and lay Buddhists, PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc called on the VBS’s Executive Committee to encourage local Buddhists to proactively join social movements for socio-economic development in the locality.
President Trần Thanh Mẫn extends Tet greetings to Supreme Patriarch Thích Phổ Tuệ
On the same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Trần Thanh Mẫn paid a pre-Tet visit to Supreme Patriarch of the VBS Thích Phổ Tuệ at Vien Minh pagoda in Hanoi city’s Phu Xuyen district.
At the visit, President Trần Thanh Mẫn spoke highly of practical contributions made by the VBS to socio-economic development of the country.
The VFF leader expressed hope that given his prestige and position, Most Venerable Thích Phổ Tuệ would continue guiding the VBS in strengthening Buddhist unity and boosting Buddhist contributions in socio movements and programs launched by the VFF for the strengthening national unity and boosting social development.
