Dong Nai province is currently home to two million followers belonging to 16 religious organizations, accounting for 70 percent of the population in the province.
Social charities of religious organizations in the province have been valued at over 200 VND billion each year.
Leading organizations in the field included the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s social charity committee, the Xuan Loc Bishop’s commission for social fraternity, the Tay Ninh Caodai Church’s representative committee, the Hoa Hao Buddhism’s representative committee, and the Pure - Land Buddhist Association’s representative committee.
As reported, in 2018, the Ong pagoda located in Bien Hoa city’s Hiep Hoa commune supported 52 ton of rice to local disadvantaged people. At the present, the pagoda also monthly provides 100 kilogram of rice to the charity kitchen at the general hospital and children hospital in the province.
Currently, there are a vocational college established and run by the Xuan Loc diocese in Dong Nai province, and 25 kindergartens and 99 preschool classes run by other religious organizations for providing pre-education for nearly 60 thousand children in the locality.
All 16 religious organizations in the province have signed a coordination agreement with the provincial environment & natural resource department and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front for environmental protection in the province.
In addition, from 1982 to now, local religious worshipping places in the province also planted green trees on 1,025 hectares of wasteland contributing the forestation and protection of the wild life.
