Seventh Military Region strengthens relations with religious people

The Seventh Military Region is currently home to 10 million followers of 12 religions, accounting for 45% of the regional population.  

For promoting religious followers’ role in national defense, the military command of the 7th region has launched many practical activities for strengthening the friendliness and close relationship with local religious people.

As part of the 7th military region, the military command in Tay Ninh province has asked district-level military command to regularly holds exchange meetings with local religious people, contributing to boost close contacts and mutual understanding between the military forces and religious communities in localities. 

During the Buddhist Parents’ Day (Vu Lan Festival) this year, the military command in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province in collaboration with Seniour Venerable Thích Chân Quang, Abbot of Thien Ton Phat Quang Pagoda, shared with over 30,000 Buddhist followers about patriotism, the national tradition against foreign aggressors and outstanding examples of religious people accompanying with the nation and fulfilling civic duties to the country.

The military command of the 7th military region has also launched an action plan for building community facilities in religious communities, including cultural and sport centers. So far, 11 community construction facilities have been completed and handed over to local religious communities, including parishes of Long Tan in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long Dien in Binh Phuoc province, Hoa Vinh in Binh Thuan province and Le Trang in Binh Duong province, etc.

In addition, the 7th military command pays regular visits to religious dignitaries on important religious festivals, presents supports and charity houses to disadvantaged people who are religious, and organizes meetings for enhancing religious followers’ knowledge on national defense and security, practically contributing to strengthen the civil-military bonds.
