Seminar on preservation of values of Lanh Giang temple

The People’s Committee in Duy Tien district of Ha Nam province organized on June 30 a seminar on preserving and promoting values of Lanh Giang temple in the digital era.

The event was held in collaboration with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department in the province and the National Centre for Research, Conservation and Promotion of Vietnamese Cultures as part of activities to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Mother Goddesses worship recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (December 1, 2016 – December 1, 2022).

The seminar 35 presentation papers by researchers on tangible and intangible values of Lanh Giang temple.

Seminar participants all suggested competent agencies to promote Lanh Giang temple to a special national historical and cultural relic.

According to Secretary of Party Committee in Ha Nam province’s Duy Tien district Phạm Hồng Thanh, Lang Giang temple festival –the national intangible cultural heritage is celebrated twice a year in the sixth lunar month (from 18th  to 25th) and the eighth lunar month. 

The worshiping temple is dedicated to three generals under the reign of Hùng King, Princess Tiên Dung who is a daughter of the 3rd Hùng King and her husband Chử Đồng Tử, one of the four immortals in the traditional mythology of Vietnam.

In addition, Lanh Giang temple is one of the three main centers oftheMother Goddess worship in Ha Nam, the place preserving and promoting Chau Van singing – a form of cultural and spiritual practice associated with the Mother Goddess worship, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
