The Department of Grassroots Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Ha Nam province held a seminar themed "Building a cultural environment in traditional festivals - Current situation and solutions”.

The event focused on solutions to overcome inadequacies in some festivals including limitations in educating traditional values of festivals, violence activities during some festivals, weaknesses in ensuring safety and security and implementing civilized lifestyles in traditional festivals, and other issues with negative impacts such as traffic jams, superstition and gambling, etc during festivals.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Lương Đức Thắng, Vietnam currently has nearly 8,000 festivals with over 7,000 traditional festivals (accounting 88.36%).
