Bo Trach district in Quang Binh province currently has a large number of Catholic followers, accounting for 15% the district population and residing in 8 out of 30 communes of the district with a deanery, 9 parishes, 19 congregations, and 21 worshipping places.
For the past years, the collaboration between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) in Bo Trach district and local authorities on religious affairs has recorded good results.
The district VFF has mobilized local Catholics to actively join social movements and programs launched by local authorities for socio-economic development in the locality.
Catholics in the district have contributed over one billion VND for upgrading 7 concrete roads. The priest and members in Tam Trang parish (Lam Trach commune) have built 2km of concrete road with the total value of over 1.4 billion VND and 2,500 working days. The villages of Thanh Hung 1 and Thanh Hung 2 have mobilized 560 million VND for developing concrete rural roads and canals. Catholics in Thanh Hung 3 village have supported 50 million VND to repair the local cultural center.
Since 2016, the district VFF has spent nearly VND 1.6 billion from the Fund for the Poor for assisting poor households and disadvantaged students with high academic results on the occasion of the Lunar New Year and new school year.
The district VFF also handed over 199 breeding cows to poor Catholic households in seven communes of Hung Trach, Son Trach, Lien Trach, Phuc Trach, Xuan Trach, Lam Trach and Hoa Trach.
