The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in An Giang province in collaboration with the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Committee for Religious Affairs and Traffic Safety Committee and held on November 19 a requiem to pray for traffic accident victims.
The requiem with theme “Remembrance for the deceased, for the sake of the living” held in An Giang province’s Tan Chau town is part of activities in response to the program of Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020) launched by the United Nations General Assembly.
At the ceremony, representatives of the provincial authorities and large numbers of Buddhist followers, locals, relatives of victims, Youth Union’s members and students in the locality gathered to pray for the peace of the victims’ souls.
As reported, An Giang province had 86 people died of traffic accidents in 2017. On this occasion, An Giang provincial People’s Committee and Tan Chau town authorities presented relief gifts to relatives of traffic victims.
