Vice Chairman of Quang Nam provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Mính led on December 28 a delegation meeting with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in the province.
Most Venerable Thích Thiện Thành, Member of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in the province welcomed the delegation at the committee office based in Dao Nguyen pagoda in Tam Ky city.
At the meeting, the provincial VBS Executive Committee and the provincial religious committee officials had exchanges on practical issues relating to Buddhist practices in the province including recognition of dependent religious organizations, appointment of abbots, expansion of lands in pagodas and the allocation of land to the Buddhist School for building dormitories for monks and nuns.
During the visiting reception, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Mính extended New Year greetings to Buddhist monks and nuns of the provincial VBS executive committee and followers in the province. He also spoke highly of social charities by the provincial VBS Executive Committee in 2020 and supports extended to the Covid-19 prevention work and local residents during the nationwide social distancing and natural disasters, etc.
Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Thiện Thành took the chance to thank local authorities for creating favorable conditions extended to Buddhist practices in the locality over the past years. In 2020, the provincial VBS Executive Committee has strictly implemented directive, regulations of the Government and advisories by relevant authorities by suspending Buddhist festivals and implementing social distancing. In addition, local Buddhists have contributed to the Covid-19 prevention work and aids to local people seriously affected by floods in Quang Nam and other provinces.
