On occasion of Easter 2021, the committee for religious affairs in the central highlands province of Gia Lai held on March 30 an exchange meeting with pastors of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South).
Attending the meeting included Pastor Siu Tum, Commissioner of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (ECVN), pastor members of the ECVN’s representative committee in Gia Lai, and heads of the ECVN’s church chapters in the province.
At the meeting, the provincial religious committee highlighted practical contributions by leaders and members of the Evangelical Church in Gia Lai for socio-economic development over the past year, including the Covid-19 prevention work last year, and extended Easter greetings to all members of the ECVN in the province.
In exchanges about the Covid-19 pandemic and the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th Legislature of the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure slated for May 23, the provincial religious committee asked leaders and members of the Evangelical Church in Gia Lai to proactively participate in the upcoming elections.
On behalf of the Evangelical Church in the province, Pastor Siu Tum thanked the provincial authorities of Gia Lai for facilitating religious practices of the ECVN in the locality and pledged to continue encouraging and guiding local Evangelicals to proactively engage in social programs and movements launched for sustainable development in the province.
Earlier, Chairman of the provincial religious committee in Gia Lai Hồ Hải Tần also visited Kon Tum Diocese’s office in the neighboring province Kon Tum for extending Easter greetings to Bishop of Kon Tum Aloisio Nguyễn Hùng Vị and other dignitaries and all parishioners of the Catholic diocese.
