Public Security in Quang Ninh honors typical Buddhists in “All people protect national security” movement

The Public Security in Quang Ninh held on October 1 a meeting to honor typical monks, nuns and lay Buddhists of the “All people protect national security” movement in the province in the 2020-2021 period.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Director of the Department of Homeland Security under the Ministry of Public Security Đinh Việt Dũng, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bùi Văn Khắng, Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Thanh Quyết, representatives from agencies, and 150 monks, nuns and lay Buddhist followers in the province.

As reported at the event, responding and implementing the “All people protect national security” movement, the provincial VBS Chapter has asked the district-level VBS executive boards, heads of pagodas to guide Buddhists and local people to ensure safe practices of Buddhism and maintenance of public security and social order in pagodas, proactively engage in charitable activities, and strictly observation of preventive measures. In 2020 and the first six months of 2021, local Buddhists have contributed 30 billion VND to social charitable activities in the province.

Presenting national flags to VBS Chapter in Quang Ninh

On this occasion, Quang Ninh provincial authorities and the provincial Public Security presented national flags to Buddhist worshipping places in the border and island areas, and handed over certificates of commendation to typical Buddhists for their outstanding contributions in the national security protection movement.
