Propaganda meeting on environmental protection for Buddhists held in Phu Yen

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Phu Yen province in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in the province held on November 21 a propagating meeting on the environmental protection for monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the locality.  

The event taking place at Bao Lam pagoda located in Tuy Hoa City’s Binh Kien commune saw the presence of Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee Phạm Hiểu; Most Venerable Thích Đồng Tiến, Chairman of the VBS executive committee; Venerable Thích Nguyên Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the VBS executive committee cum Head of Lieu Quan Buddhist School; and large numbers of student monks, nuns of the Buddhist school and lay Buddhists in the locality.

During the meeting, Dean of Chemical Technology - Natural Resources and Environment Faculty under Central College of Industry and Trade Võ Anh Khuê introduced the process of recycling waste into organic fertilizers and biological cleaners, contributing to enhance the knowledge for dignitaries, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists on the environmental protection and climate change response, and create a zero-waste places of worship.

In addition, the meeting participants also had exchanges on climate change issues and practical experiences with emphases on individual responsibility on ecological environment protection.
