Vinh Long provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held on June 6 a seminar for promoting values of 100-year-old Cong Than temple, a national historical – cultural relic site recognized in 1998.

Cong Than temple which is situated on the left bank of Co Chien river of the province is a worshipping place for natural and human gods as part of the spiritual life of locals. Currently, 85 ordination certificates of the Nguyen Dynasty for 34 divinity titles are being preserved at the temple.

At the seminar, historical – cultural values of the relics were highly appreciated by participating researchers. As reported, Vinh Long provincial authorities are planning to make Cong Than relic site as a tourist destination by promoting the relic’s image and values and organizing featured cultural programs such as ancient cai luong (roughly translated as “renovated theatre”), Boi singing (Tuong), etc.

The event was a chance for honoring historical – cultural values of the relic, helping researchers and the provincial authorities find practical solutions to enhance values of the historical relic site in the province.
