Promoting unity amongst religious youth in Quang Ngai province

Over the past years, the district and commune – level Vietnam Youth Associations in Quang Ngai province have carried out many activities for religious youth to gather and engage in youth movements, contributing to socio-economic development in the locality.

Mr. Đinh Bảo Trung is a 31-year old Protestant and living in Truong Khay village, Son Ha commune of Son Ha district. In order to develop his family business, Mr. Trung has raised more than 700 chickens and 3 cows with the provincial Youth Union providing cash and breeders, so his family could have more conditions to develop production and improve the quality of life.

In addition to help religious youth with business economic development, the social – political organizations at all levels have mobilized religious youth to proactively join volunteering activities launched by the provincial Vietnam Youth Union such as “Green Summer”, “Youth Month”, provision of supports to disadvantaged households, disadvantaged pupil with high results of the academy, construction of youth self-governing roads, voluntary blood donation, and environmental protection, etc.

According to Secretary of the Youth Union in Phuoc Thien 1 village, Binh Hai commune of Binh Son district Nguyễn Văn Thanh, Binh Hai commune has four operative religions of Buddhism, Catholicism, Caodaism and Protestantism. Religious youth in the commune account for 50% of the youth in the village. He said that he is a religious and the secretary of the Youth Union in the village, so there are many advantages in gathering young people. Many practical activities as collection of garbage, environment protection, and supports voluntary to the disadvantaged have attracted large numbers of religious youth.

In order to further educate and improve the youth’s revolutionary ideal, ethics and lifestyle, the provincial Youth Union has organized many programs including “Festival for ethnic and religious youth”, “Singing festival of young workers, ethnic and religious youth”, youth camp, etc. These activities have created opportunities for ethnic and religious youth to exchange and learn experiences in union work and expand cultural and artistic movements in the locality.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Lê Văn Vin, the Provincial Youth Union would launch many specific models and activities to attract young people, contributing to promote the tradition and strength of the great national unity bloc.
