Promoting traffic safety amongst Khmer Buddhists in Can Tho

The Traffic Safety Committee in Can Tho city in collaboration with the city Committee for Religious Affairs has held a disseminating conference on the Law on Road Traffic and Inland Waterway Traffic for Khmer monks, Achars, the management board of Khmer pagodas and students monks of the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Institute.

The event covered contents of state laws on traffic, solutions to ensure traffic safety and order; rules for participating in road traffic and building traffic culture, overview of traffic accidents in Vietnam from 2011 to 2021 and traffic accidents occurring in Can Tho city from December 2021 to June 2022, etc.

Thạch Hoàng, Deputy Head of the management board of Sammaky pagoda in Vinh Binh commune of Vinh Thanh district said that the management board of the pagoda has disseminated legal provisions on traffic safety during ceremonies and meetings with Buddhists and local residents. He also informed that in the first six months of 2022, lay Buddhists and residents in Vinh Binh commune contributed 500 million VND and working days for building two rural roads and concreting the traffic route.
