Promoting role of religious dignitaries in NA election in Gia Lai

Gia Lai has currently 955 prestigious people in ethnic minority communities, including 771 people being members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) at all levels in the province for the 2019-2024 tenure.  

According to Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch, these prestigious people play important roles in their communities as well as the political system and the national election.

Prestigious people have enhanced understanding of local people, including ethnic minorities on the rights and obligations of each citizen in the election, Vice Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch said.

The preparations for the upcoming National Assembly and People’s Council elections, scheduled for May 23, in Gia Lai have been basically completed.

Dak Doa district is one of leading places for disseminating information on the election in the province. Vice Chairman of the VFF in Dak Doa district Đinh Ơng informed that local authorities have encouraged local elites to speak with local people about the meaning and regulations of the election. To make information about the election easy to understand, local authorities have edited election posters, flyers and translated them into Jrai language.

Similarly, the border district of Chu Prong has been ready for the election. Chairman of the VFF in the district Kpuih Hồ Công Thông said that thanks to prestigious people, the preparation work of the election have been carried out and 100% voters of the district have understood the process, principles, time and meanings of the upcoming election.

In order to ensure all people know about the election, Mr. Rơ Mah Chim - a prestigious people in Lan village, Ia Kly Commune of Chu Prong district has come to every household in the village for directly talking with them about the meaning and regulations of the election.

With a comprehensive approach of the political system and a proactive response of all voters, Gia Lai provincial authorities could reasonably expect that the election of the 15th National Assembly and the People’s Council at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure will be a success.
