The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Cho Lach district of Ben Tre province in collaboration with the representative committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist church in Ben Tre province held on November 6 a meeting to mobilize local people and Hoa Hao Buddhists for promoting public security and social order in local hamlets.
The event taking place at Son Hoa temple located in Vinh Binh commune of the district saw the presence of Vice Chairwoman of the district VFF Nguyễn Thị Huệ Thanh, Head of the provincial representative committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in Ben Tre Nguyễn Thanh Hùng, representatives from local authorities and about 150 Hoa Hoa Buddhists in the locality.
The meeting aimed to encourage and promote the role of Hoa Hao Buddhists and local people in prevention and detection of crimes, protection of security, social order, creating positive changes in crime prevention and control in the province.
During the meeting, local authorities presented establishment decisions to two advocacy boards with 14 members for promoting public security and social order in hamlets of Loc Hiep and Vinh Loc, Vinh Binh commune, Cho Lach district.
On the occasion, Head of the Church’s provincial representative committee Nguyễn Thanh Tùng handed over 50 gift sets, worth 15 million VND, to disadvantaged people including Hoa Hao Buddhists in Vinh Binh commune.
