12/28/2018

Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Central Committee Ngô Sách Thực led a delegation on December 25 at a meeting with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hanoi on results of the three-year implementation of the VFF’s resolution on religious affairs adopted in 2015.

Attending the event included Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu and Most Venerable General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Đức Thiện.

According to Most Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, during three years implementing the VFF’s new resolution on religious affairs, the VBS executive committee in the provinces has encouraged Buddhist followers to actively take part in patriotic movements and social charitable activities launched by local authorities.

The VBS currently has 155 Tue Tinh clinics, 655 traditional medicine clinics and a policlinic. For the last 35 years, the VBS has contributed about 7,000 billion VND to social-charitable activities. In particular, in the six months 2018, Buddhist followers in 27 provinces contributed over 500 billion VND to social and humanitarian activities including the building of kindergarten schools, the construction of new rural roads and gifts to poor children.

Speaking during the meeting, Vice President Ngô Sách Thực highlighted practical achievements made by the VBS in the implementation of the VFF’s resolution on religious affairs. He expressed hope that the VBS would further encourage Buddhist followers to promote fine traditions and actively join in the movements launched by the VFF and mass organizations.
