02/19/2021

Several major Lunar New Year festivals in Hanoi have been held on February 17 only with incense offering ceremonies and without festive activities, in order to curb the Covid-19 epidemic.

These festivals often opening on the sixth of the first lunar month includes Huong pagoda festival of Huong Son relic site located in My Duc district, Giong festival of Soc temple relic site located in Soc Son district, Co Loa temple festival in Dong Anh district, and Hai Ba Trung temple festival in Me Linh district, etc.

At the festivals venues, local authorities organized delegations with limited numbers of participants to perform incense offering ceremonies and worshipping rituals to worship the Buddha and folk saints.

Thanks to the communication work, local people well supported the decision of local authorities and Hanoi city not to organize festive activities and close relic sites for preventing the Covid-19 epidemic.
