The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in Hanoi held a meeting on November 2 on the one-year implementation of a signed coordinated program on environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
The meeting held in collaboration with the municipal department of natural resources and environment and religious organizations in the city was presided Vice Chairman of the VFF committee Vũ Hồng Khanh.
As reported at the meeting, the one-year implementation of the coordinated program on environmental protection and climate change adaptation between the the municipal VFF committee, the department of natural resources and environment and religious organizations in the city recorded initial positive results. So far, all religious organizations in the city have incorporated activities for enhancing awareness on environmental protection amongst religious communities.
Venerable Thích Viên Đức from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Hanoi informed at the meeting that at Buddhist preaching and teaching classes, VBS dignitaries in the city called on Buddhist followers to proactively participate in the program through activities for protecting trees, keeping water resources clean, preventing air pollution by avoiding usage of wood and coal for cooking, etc.
Meanwhile, Priest Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Hanoi Antonio Dương Phú Oanh called on people to live in ways that promote sharing of natural resources with other people and later generations.
