The representative board of Hoa (Vietnammese of Chinese origin) Buddhist Community in Ho Chi Minh city for the 2022-2027 tenure formally made its debut at a ceremony held on November 5.
The event taking place at Nghia An temple in District 5 saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Huệ Văn, Advisor of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh city; Senior Venerable Thích Trung Nguyện, Deputy Secretary cum Chief of the VBS Executive Committee’s Office in the city; Senior Venerable Thích Huệ Công, Head of the representative board of the Hoa Buddhist Community in the city; and representatives from Hoa temples and Hoa communities in the city.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairwoman of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Phan Kiều Thanh Hương and Head of Policy Division under the Committee for Ethnic affairs in the city Trần Chí Vĩ.
During the event, on behalf of the VBS Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh city, Senior Venerable Thích Trung Nguyện proclaimed the appointment decision of the representative board of the Hoa Community for the 2022-2027 tenure.
Accordingly, the representative board of Chinese community for the 2022-2027 tenure consists of 21 members, headed by Senior Venerable Thích Huệ Công, Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in the city.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has 54 Hoa temples with about 90 monks and nuns. The Hoa community usually lives together according to their language accents (Cantonese, Fujian, Tieu Chau, Hainan, etc).
