A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by Senior Lieutenant General Bùi Văn Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Steering Board for Ensuring Public Security and Order for celebrations of the UN Day of Vesak 2019 in Vietnam, on March 11 made a field trip to Tam Chuc Buddhist Culture Center in Kim Bang District, Ha Nam Province, and checked security work for the event in the locality.
The UN Day of Vesak 2019, themed “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies” will take place at the Tam Chuc Buddhist Culture Center in Ha Nam with the participation of some 1,500 foreign delegates from 100 countries and territories, including state leaders and high-ranking officials as well as 10,000 Vietnamese delegates.
This is the third time the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has hosted the UN Vesak event, contributing to promoting the position of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and affirming the open policies on religions of the Party and State of Vietnam as well as promoting the images of Ha Nam and Vietnam.

The MPS will be responsible for ensuring security, safety and order for the event, facilitating the exit and entry of foreign delegates participating in the event.
After checking the area hosting the event in the Tam Chuc Buddhist Center, Deputy Minister Bùi Văn Nam attended a conference organized by the Ha Nam Provincial Police to roll out plans to ensure security and order for the UN Vesak 2019.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Bùi Văn Nam emphasized that, by hosting the event, Vietnam will show that it is a responsible member of the UN, and a peace-loving nation in the world. He urged all public security units to mobilize all means and forces to ensure security and safety for the event.
