Model for peaceful, civilized parish in Binh Duong

Lac An commune in Binh Duong province’s Bac Tan Uyen district has currently over 9,487 people, of which 87% the population follow Catholicism with eight parishes and eight priests.  

A model for peaceful and civilized parish has been launched in the commune with the aim to enhance roles and responsibilities of local authorities and Catholic parishes and followers in maintaining peace and order in the locality.

The model launched by the People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Lac Ha commune in agreement with local authorities and the pastoral council of parishes operates in the spirit of voluntariness and community responsibility.

According to Deputy Secretary of Lac An commune Party’s Committee cum head of the management board of the model Từ Thị Thảo, the model includes a management board with 18 members and 3 sub-board in three villages with 39 members.

The model set to achieve five targets for preventing crime, accidents, social evils, drug abuse, violation of public order and conflicts, and boosting socio-economic development in each family of parishes.

Accordingly, the management board has encouraged local Catholics to sign commitments to successfully achieve targets of the model and well observe state laws, regulations of residential areas and promote fine traditions and civilized lifestyle in families, contributing to promote socio-economic development and maintenance of public security and social order in the locality.
