Meeting with key religious in Dong Nai

The Military Command in Dong Nai province held on March 24 an exchange meeting with key religious in the province.

The event saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Sơn Hùng, representatives from the provincial military command and 100 dignitaries and deacons of religious organizations of Catholicism, Buddhism, Protestantism, Caodaism, Hoa Hao Buddhism and Islam in the locality.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Sơn Hùng praised the effective collaboration between the armed force and the religious organizations in the province over the past years, practically contributing to the socio-economic development, and the national defense and security in the locality.

As reported at the event, during the 4th Covid-19 outbreak, there has been 668 religious volunteers participating to the frontline epidemic prevention force including 548 priests, seminarians, deacons and lay Catholics, and 84 monks, nuns and lay Buddhists. In addition, the religious organizations in the province has donated over five billion VND in cash and presented six ventilators to the epidemic prevention work, and sent thousands of tons of food and other necessities to disadvantage locals.

Last year, the provincial military command has coordinated with religious dignitaries in completing over 40 charity houses with the total value of 4.5 billion VND for disadvantaged religious families and relatives of people who are serving in the armed force and militia and self-defense force.

In addition, the 7th Military Region and the armed force in Dong Nai has coordinated with Xuan Loc diocese and the Hoa Binh College to build a sport and culture facility at the Hoa Binh College, as well as coordinated with the Buddhist Sangha chapter in the province to build a library at Buddhist Intermediate School (Nun's campus) located in Long Thanh district.
