A course fostering national defense knowledge kicked off on May 13 by An Giang provincial National Defense and Security Education Council for 100 Muslim dignitaries in the locality.

The four-day course provides key contents on the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies on building all-people national defense, the Party’s guidelines and the State’s ethnic and religious policies, and national defense and security, Vietnam's sovereignty over the Southwest region, etc.
As reported at the event, An Giang currently has nearly 17,000 Muslims who are ethnic Cham people practicing the religion in 28 mosques. Over the last years, Cham Muslims in the province have proactively participated in patriotic emulation movements launched by local authorities, practically contributed to social charities, and actively engaged in the advocacy work promoting ethnic cultural identity and social-economic development, etc.
