Investment for restoration of Banh It Tower national relic approved

Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee has issued a decision approving an investment project on the renovation and promotion values of Banh It Tower national relic site located in Tuy Phuoc district’s Phuoc Hiep commune.

The approved project has a total investment of 25.6 billion VND will be implemented by the provincial Department for Culture and Sports from 2021 – 2022.

The project will cover the southwest internal road concretized; paving of stone extended through the main gate; dismantling of the old permanent house - restroom located in the Southeast (position 10 in the construction planning) for creating open space and improving the campus landscape with an area of about 203m2; building of functional areas (houses for service, reception, display, management, guarding, cleaning) into one block located in the Southeast with an area of ​​​​about 712m2.

Also according to the decision, the interior display system inside the tower would be designed and arranged according to models of Cham fine arts and architecture. Besides, the project will relocate the medium voltage power line across the relic area in the southwest and embellish the landscape, garden, and parking lot.

Banh It Tower, also known as Bac (Silver) Tower and YANG MTIAN in J'rai language is a cluster of ancient Cham Pa towers, currently located in Dai Loc village of Tuy Phuoc district’s Phuoc Hiep commune. The tower was built around the 10th century in the transitional style from My Son A1 style to Binh Dinh style. The tower cluster was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic site in 1982.
