Chairman of Lam Dong provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Ngô Văn Đức led a delegation checking the state governance on religion in Da Teh District from August 13-14.
During the working delegation, the inspection delegation had meetings with concerning authorities of Da Teh and several communes in the district.
As reported, most worshipping places of religions in the district have well informed and observed the Law on Belief and Religion 2016, including the registration of annual religious activities.
Local authorities in the district have paid attention to and created favorable conditions in granting land to local religious organizations for building places of worship, and addressed religious issues in accordance with administrative regulations as prescribed by the new law on belief and religion.
In exchanges with the inspecting delegation, representatives of some communal authorities recommended the employment of one additional cadre for the state administration on religion at the commune level and the enhancement of training on the implementation of the law on belief and religion for cadres at commune and village levels.
Da Teh distict is currently home to 10,400 followers of Buddhism (6,000), Catholicism (3,700) and Protestantism, accounting for about 21% of the district population, with two Budhhist pagodas, two Catholic parish churches and one Protstant church.
The inspection is part of a plan approved by the Lam Dong provincial home affairs department for checking the implementation of the law on belief and religion in 2019 in all districts of the province.
