Hung Hoc communal house named national historical relic

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued on June 29 a decision for recognition of Hung Hoc communal house located in Nam Hoa ward, Quang Ninh province’s Quang Yen town as the national historic relic.

Accordingly, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism asked the People’s Committee at levels to protect the relic in accordance with the Law on Cultural Heritage.

Hung Hoc communal house, located in Nam Hoa ward, Quang Yen provincial district, was built in the end of 18th century and has undergone several restorations and expansions. The communal house worships two tutelary gods of Hung Hoc village, namely Đức Huyền Quang Lý Đạo Tái, the 3rd patriarch of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism and Vũ Hoàng Đào who help local residents to eliminate diseases.

The communal house currently preserves many objects with high historical and artistic values, such as the ordination documents, six wooden swords with bronze scabbard, three gilded plaques, etc.

The Hung Hoc communal house festival has been annually held from 12th day to 15th day of the first lunar month.
