Home Affairs Department in Thai Nguyen has exchange meeting with provincial VBS Chapter

The Home Affairs Department in Thai Nguyen province had on July 22 an exchange meeting with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in the province and concerning provincial department and agencies on the State administration on Buddhist affairs.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Head of the provincial Home Affairs Department Ma Đình Đối, Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Hoàng Ngọc Hưng, Senior Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Nguyên Thành, and representatives from concerning provincial authorities and the district-level VBS’s executive boards.

Practical issues raised at the meeting included the supplemented list of Buddhist establishments, registration for Buddhist groups’ practices, and religious activities of some Buddhist dignitaries in the province.

The provincial VBS Chapter also raised issues relating the State administration on religious affairs such as the residential registration for monks and nuns in the province, the construction and restoration of worshipping places, the granted certificate of religious land, etc.  

Addressing the event, Deputy Head Ma Đình Đối spoke highly of practical contributions made by Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers through social, charitable activities in localities.   

Thai Nguyen province currently has three operative religions of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism, in which Buddhism has the largest numbers of worshipping places and followers in the locality.
