During the event, participating delegates thanked the municipal authorities for their support for ethnic minority people. They also exchanged with the municipal authorities about policies on education, health and culture for creating favorable conditions for the ethnic communities to restore and rebuild cultural places and education facilities.

Addressing at the event, Chairwoman of the VFF in the city Tô Thị Bích Châu hailed practical contributions of ethnic communities to the socio-economic development in the city. She also expressed hope that in the coming time, the ethnic communities will continue joining hands with the municipal government to fulfill economic, culture and social targets, contributing to boost the city’s growth.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is home to about 437,500 people from 52 ethnic minority groups, accounting for 5.66 percent of the city’s total population. The majority of whom are from Hoa, Khmer and Cham groups.
