Hanoi’s Dong But Pagoda set for renovation

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Notice No. 2142/BVHTTDL-DSVH to the Hanoi municipal People's Committee on a renovation project for Dong But Pagoda located in Dong But village, Ngoc Liep commune, Quoc Oai district.

Accordingly, the renovation of the pagoda should focus on restoration of the main Buddhist worshipping temple, the Mother Goddess worshipping temple, the house for monk, and side gate, the light system and the renovation of fire prevention and fighting.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also asked Hanoi municipal authorities and relevant agencies to supplement and complete the dossier, and then make public of the renovated plan before implementing the next steps in accordance with the law.

Dong But Pagoda was built from Tran dynasty and currently has ancient artifacts including ordinations, stone stele, palanquin with eight carriers, etc. With these unique values, the pagoda has been classified by Ministry of Culture - Information as a national artistic and architectural relic in 1996.
