At the handover ceremony

The event was co-organized by the Department of Homeland Security and the Police Department of Prison Management, Compulsory Education Establishments and Reformatories under the Public Security Ministry.

The event saw the presence of Major General Thùng Văn Nghiểm, Deputy Director of the homeland security department, Major General Nguyễn Việt Hùng, Deputy Director of the police department of prison management, compulsory education establishments and reformatories, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Ánh Chức, and representatives from the International Organizations Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Office of the National Steering Committee on Human Rights.

During the ceremony, the police department of prison management, compulsory education establishments and reformatories received 4,418 copies of 17 religious publications including scriptures of religions and several book tiles on the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on belief and religion, historical development and social impacts of religion. These religious-related copies would be delivered to 54 libraries of prisons under the public security ministry.

Speaking at the event, Major General Thùng Văn Nghiểm, Deputy Director of the homeland security department affirmed that the provision of religious publications at prisons, compulsory education establishments and reformatories contributes to ensure everyone's right to access to religious publications, reflecting the Vietnam's consistent policy in safeguarding freedom of religion and belief and the country’s efforts in implementing international conventions on civil, political and human rights.
