A forum on environmental protection and climate change adaption by religious individuals and organizations was held on October 26 in Ho Chi Minh city.
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) in Ho Chi Minh city and Department of Natural Resources and Environment and attended by Vice Chairman of the city VFF Đỗ Trung Tín.
During the conference, participating delegates focused exchanges and discussion on models and programs for protecting the environment and adaption to climate changes by religious organizations in the city. They also shared together experiences and difficulties in environment protection in the city.
Senior Venerable Thích Duy Trấn, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board in district 11 suggested that each pagoda in the city should select 10 Buddhists and five monks and nuns to take part in environmental protection, including street cleaning, tree planting and collecting garbage in residential areas.
Pastor Pastor President of the Vietnam Adventist Church Trần Thanh Truyện stressed the need to raise awareness on environmental protection and climate change adaption among youth as well as mobilize religious followers to keep clean around churches, houses and residential areas.
