A training on fire fighting and rescue for abbots of monasteries and Buddhist dignitaries attending the annual Buddhist summer retreat schools of Thanh Ha, Khai Nam and Huong Quang in Thanh Hoa province was held on July 8.
During the one-day event taking place in Khai Nam pagoda located in the province’s Sam Son city, representatives from the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of the province delivered presentations on risk of fire or explosion while burning votive and incense, escape plan in crowded festivals and the use of fire extinguishers, etc.

Speaking at the event, Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s executive committee in the province Thích Tâm Định extended thanks to the provincial department for their training for ensuring fire safety and asked local Buddhist dignitaries and abbots to strictly implement regulations on fire prevention and fighting in their Buddhist worshipping places in the locality.
