In his opening remarks, VFF President Trần Thanh Mẫn affirmed that in recent years, the front has regularly received opinions contributed by members of the aforementioned circles towards strengthening the national solidarity.

He shared his wish that conference delegates would uphold their responsibility and express frank and constructive views on the Party documents and on matters of their interest.

Some delegates suggested that document writers should highlight the Party’s success in economic reform and that some drawbacks remain in power control that have yet to be resolved in a radical manner.

Others stated that it is necessary to have sustainable forest development programmes along with the planning and management of hydropower plants because ethnic minorities are the most affected by such projects.

Delegates at the conference said that the Party needs to place trust on Vietnamese intellectuals abroad and create opportunities for them to contribute and demonstrate their capacity in the homeland.

There were also opinions that the Party and State have not given due attention to social sciences despite their significant role in forming the ideological and theoretical foundation for the country’s development.

Speaking at the conference, Head of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation Trương Thị Mai thanked the delegates for their profound and constructive opinions and affirmed that they would take note of in order to continue improving the Party documents.
