The Public Security and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Ninh Binh co-organised on February 1 a meeting with dignitaries of religions in the province on occasion of Vietnam traditional New Year 2018.
Representatives of state authorities attending the meeting included Senior Lieutenant General Deputy Minister for Public Security Bùi Văn Nam, Vice Chairman of the Central Commission on Mass Mobilization Nguyễn Lam, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Tấn, Secretary of Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh, Chairman of Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee Đinh Văn Điến.
Dignitaries of religious organizations at the event were Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Thích Thanh Đàm, Bishop of Phat Diem Diocese cum Vice President of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops’ Conference Joseph Nguyễn Năng, Senior Venerable Chairman of the Executive Committee of the VBS Chapter in Ninh Binh Thích Thọ Lạc, and large numbers of Buddhist and Catholic clerics.
During the meeting religious dignitaries and representatives of state authorities had exchanges on activities for encouraging and motivating people in general, and followers of religions in particular, to proactively join in programs and movements launched for fostering civilized lifestyles and socio-economic development in the locality.
