A delegation of ethnic and religious representatives from the central province of Nghe An paid on October 21 a courtesy visit to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Hanoi.
Vice President cum General Secretary of the VFF central committee Hầu A Lềnh welcomed the 56-member delegation.
At the visiting reception, the delegation informed the host the religious life and results of religious affairs in Nghe An over the past years.
As reported, Catholicism and Buddhism are two major religions in Nghe An. For the past years, Vinh diocese and the executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Nghe An have closely collaborated with concerning provincial authorities for strengthening interfaith relations, social cohesion and national unity in the province.
Speaking with the guests, Secretary General of the VFF central committee Hầu A Lềnh spoke highly of efforts of ethnic and religious representatives in promoting their role for encouraging ethnic and religious people to proactively engage in social programs and movements launched for boosting socio-economic development in Nghe An province.
Mentioning great difficulties and losses that people in flooded areas in the central region are facing, the VFF general secretary called on ethnic and religious representatives to encourage ethnic and religious people in the locality to make practical contributions for helping flood victims in Vietnam Central.
On the same day, the ethnic and religious delegation also visited the Committee for Ethnic Affairs in Hanoi, and Vice Chairman of the ethnic affairs committee Y Thông warmly received and had exchanges with the delegation.
