The Khmer community in the southern region has started celebrating their traditional Sene Dolta festival from September 16 to 18 (from 29th of 7th lunar month to 2nd of 8th lunar month).
On the occasion, the Committee for Ethnic Affairs has set up delegations for visiting and congratulating Khmer communities in southern localities on Sene Dolta Festival. The delegations have been visiting and extending warm celebrations of the festival to associations of Khmer patriotic monks, Khmer pagodas and prestigious people in provinces of Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Can Tho City.
Sene Dolta is one of the most important religious festivals for Khmer ethnic people, along with Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year) and Ooc Oom Bok to thank the Moon for a good harvest. During the event, people gather to pay homage to their ancestors and enjoy traditional singing and dancing after a year of hard work.
