Enhancing roles of Catholic solidarity committee at all levels

A meeting to review the two-year implementation of a cooperation program between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFF) and the Catholic Solidarity Central Committee of Vietnam (CSCV) was held on March 23 in Hanoi.

The event was chaired by President of the VFF Đỗ Văn Chiến and attended by Vice President cum General Secretary of the VFF Lê Tiến Châu, Priest President of the CSCV Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, and Priest John Baptist Nguyễn Văn Riễn, Vice President cum General Secretary of the CSCV.

According to Vice President of the VFF Ngô Sách Thực, over the past years, thanks to the coordination program, the patriotic emulation movement of Vietnamese Catholics and the CSCV has achieved positive results, practically contributing to the socio-economic development, security and defense in the country.

The VFF and CSCV have encouraged lay Catholics to proactively join patriotic movements launched by the Central VFF, including the fund for poor, programs launched for environment protection and climate change adaption, new-style rural development, and Covid-19 prevention work, etc.

Speaking at the event, President of the VFF Đỗ Văn Chiến asked the two sides to well prepare for the congress of the Catholics with the national construction and defense in provinces and cities in 2022, towards the 8th national congress the Catholics and national construction and defense, 2023-2028 tenure.

The official also stated that the VFF always supports the CSCV’s requests and urged the central CSCV to closely collaborate with the Central VFF in resolving practical issues in the implementation of the cooperation regulation.
