Can Tho city Committee for Religious Affairs held on July 18 - 20 a meeting for dissemination of religious laws to religious dignitaries, deacons in the city.
Nearly 200 dignitaries and deacons of religious organizations in the city have participated in the meeting.
The three-day event covered key contents of the State’s policies and laws on religion including the Law on Belief and Religion and the Decree 162 on detailing a number of articles and providing measures for the implementation of the new law, as well as administrative procedures in the field of belief and religion and practical issues for the state administration on religious affairs in the city.
According to Chairman of the city Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Hùng Yên, in the past six months, religious organizations in the city actively implemented charitable programs valued at over VND 34 billion for supporting disadvantaged people, providing free health-check and medicines to poor patients, presenting scholarships to poor students and orphans.
