The Home Affairs Department in the southern province of Vinh Long held on June 24 a conference for disseminating the State laws on belief and religion and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Charter to key Buddhist followers in the province.

Present at the event included Deputy Head of the provincial Home Affairs Department Nguyễn Văn Hồng Quân, representatives from local authorities, and 147 Buddhist monks and members of the Khmer pagodas’ management board in the locality.

During the conference, in addition to a key note speech by Most Venerable Đào Như, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Principal of the Khmer Theravada Institute, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Khmer Theravada Buddhism cum Vice Principal of Pali - Khmer High School in Tra Vinh Lam So Rone presented topics covering key contents of the Party’s guidelines and the State laws on belief and religion and other concerning laws on Land and Construction; and Most Venerable Danh Lung, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council introduced key contents of the VBS’s Charter amended at the 9th National Buddhist Congress, and disciplines and precepts as well as the spirit of solidarity and harmony in Buddhist affairs.
This is the first time the provincial Home Affairs Department has organized a disseminating conference presented by Khmer language to Buddhist monks, the management boards of Khmer pagodas and achars of the Khmer Theravada Buddhism in the province in order for them to better understanding the state laws on belief and religion and regulations of the VBS.
