In particular, Tan Binh district authorities have simultaneously checked and supervised preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic  at religious establishments including communal houses, Christian churches, and Buddhist pagodas in the district.

According to the Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control in Ward 3 and 6 (Tan Binh district), local religious establishments have strictly implemented preventive measures against the pandemic including health declarations and body temperature check for visitors.

The head of Khanh Thien pagoda in Ward 3 informed that due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the city, the pagoda has suspended all religious events and recommended Buddhists and visitors to avoid large gatherings.

Since February 28, Tan Binh district has taken 131 random samples at religious establishments including members of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s executive board, the management boards of religious establishments, and visitors to these religious places. The district authorities have tightened the preventive measures after a large number of followers gathering at Vien Giac pagoda.

Local authorities also have asked the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s executive board, the management boards of religious establishments to strictly implement prevention measures against the epidemic by Ho Chi Minh municipal authorities.

Ho Chi Minh city currently has 2,344 quarantined people at concentrated sites, and 295 at home.
