Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang extends Vesak visits to Supreme Patriarch and other leaders of VBS

Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang paid on May 19 a visit to Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha (VBS), on the occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday, known as Vesak 2024 (B.E.2568).
Accompanying the deputy prime minister included Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization Đỗ Văn Phớn, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee Tô Thị Bích Châu, Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga, and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Dương Ngọc Hải.
Visiting Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at Hue Nghiem Pagoda, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang wished all Buddhist followers the best wishes, expressing his hope that they will enjoy a peaceful festival.
The deputy prime minister acknowledged and highly valued VBS’s contributions to the community and the country in recent times, and showed his desire for Buddhists to continue to accompany the nation, actively engaging in social welfare and charitable activities, and joining hands with authorities and people nationwide to overcome difficulties in the national construction and development.
The Party and the State will create all conditions for the VBS to continue practicing its religion according to the motto "Buddhist Dharma – Nation – Socialism”, contributing to the nation’s development, he affirmed.
Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng said the VBS will continue to promote the traditional attachment to and companionship with the nation, proactively participating in patriotic emulation movements, implementing social security programs, and caring for and helping poor people, thus contributing to creating social stability for development.
He called on all Vietnamese people to maintain "peace of mind" and stay united to overcome all difficulties, bringing peace and development to the country.
On the occasion, Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng presented a floral basket to the VBS’s supreme patriarch, ahead Vesak 2024.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang visited the VBS’s Central second office based in Quang Duc monastery for extending Vesak greetings to Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS’s Discernment and Executive Councils.
Welcomed the deputy prime minister included Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Discernment Council cum Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council Thích Thiện Pháp.
In welcoming reception, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp took the chance to thank the deputy prime minister, the government and local authorities for their due attention extended to Buddhist affairs of the VBS over the past years.
