Deputy Miniter Vũ Chiến Thắng extends Vesak greetings to VBS leaders

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng paid on May 12-19 visits to leaders of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday, known as Vesak 2024, (B.E.2568).

Joining the delegation included Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga.

On May 19, the delegation visited and met with Most Venerable Thích Đức Nghiệp, Deputy Patriarch of the VBS in Vinh Nghiem pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3.

At the visiting reception, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng sent wishes of good health and success to the Most Venerable and Buddhists of the VBS on the occasion of the Buddha's birthday.

On the same day, the delegation met with Most Venerable Thích Giác Toàn, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Director of the Buddhist Studies Institution in Ho Chi Minh City.

* Earlier, on May 17, the delegation visited and met with Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Deputy President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Head of the VBS’s Central Dharma Propagation Committee and Chairman of the VBS’s chapter in the city in Bang pagoda located in Hanoi City’s Hoang Mai district, and Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Deputy President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Head of the VBS’s Central Information and Communication Committee in Lien Phai pagoda located in Hai Ba Trung district.

At the visits, the Deputy Minister asked about the Vesak celebration by the VBS’s chapter in the city and sent wishes of health and peace to all Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers in the locality.

* On May 12, in Can Tho City, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng met with Most Venerable Đào Như, Deputy President of the VBS’s Executive Council Chairman of the VBS’s chapter in the city and extended Vesak greetings to all Theravada Buddhist dignitaries, monks and lay followers in the locality.
