Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng visits Buddhist dignitaries in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri on occasion of Vesak Day

Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng paid on May 20 visits to Buddhist dignitaries of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in provinces of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri, on the occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday Vesak 2024 (B.E. 2568).

Accompanying the deputy minister included Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga.

During the visits, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng met with Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Giác Quang, Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Thua Thien Hue province Thích Khế Chơn, and Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in the province Thích Huệ Phước.

While extending warm Vesak greetings to the two dignitaries and all Buddhist followers in the two provinces, the home affairs official expressed hope that Buddhist dignitaries would continue guiding Buddhists to uphold fine traditions and make practical contributions for socio-economic development in the two localities.

Visiting Most Venerable Thích Huệ Phước

On the same day, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng visited and extended Vesak greetings to Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Quang Tri province Thích Thiện Tấn, and offered incense to commemorate heroes and martyrs at Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery in the province’s Gio Linh district.
