Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng pays pre-Christmas visit to Can Tho Diocese

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng paid on December 10 a pre-Christmas visit to Can Tho diocese in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The Deputy Minister accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Tiến Trọng was welcomed by Bishop of Can Tho Stephanie Tri Bửu Thiên.

During the visit, while extending Christmas greetings to the Bishop and all Catholic followers of the diocese, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng underlined the contributions made by Catholic followers nationwide and in Can Tho diocese in particular to the country’s important achievements in the past year.

Deputy Miniter Vũ Chiến Thắng expressed hope that the diocese’s Bishop and priests would further encourage and guide local Catholics to proactively engage in movements and programs launched by local authorities for boosting socio-economic development in the locality.  

Bishop Stephanie Tri Bửu Thiên, for his part, took the chance to thank the Party, the State, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and local authorities for favorable conditions extended to the Catholic community in general and Catholics of Can Tho diocese. He pledged to continue urging Catholic followers to promote fine traditions of Catholicism, observe the Party guidelines and Stat laws, and make more contributions for sustainable development of the country.
