Dong Thap province People’s Committee held on December 3 a ceremony to mark the 89th death anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s father Nguyễn Sinh Sắc.
Representatives from central ministries and agencies, local authorities, museums in Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh city were present at the event.
During the ceremony, Director of the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department Nguyễn Ngọc Thương recalled life activities of Nguyễn Sinh Sắc in general and his great contributions as a herbal doctor and a country patriot while residing in the province in particular.
Mr. Nguyễn Sinh Sắc - father of President Ho Chi Minh was born in 1862 in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. He was a mandarin of Nguyen Dynasty who resigned and then became an herbal doctor to help the poor. He passed away in 1929 in Dong Thap province.
As part of the commemoration of the death anniversary, the Nguyễn Sinh Sắc relic site hosted several activities including an exhibition of 1,000 documents on Nguyen Sinh Sac, President Hồ Chí Minh and Dong Thap province, art programs featuring the life and career of Nguyen Sinh Sac, President Hồ Chí Minh and Dong Thap province, etc.
On the occasion, the Nguyễn Sinh Sắc promotion fund reported to receive VND 8.4 billion from sponsors and donors inside and outside the province in 2018.
